The presidents of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, and Panama, Jose Raul Mulino, agreed to move "as soon as possible" towards an electrical interconnection between the two countries, which could be extended to other nations.

In December, Colombia and Panama resumed talks on the interconnection, an 800-million-dollar project that has been stalled since 2012 and which would imply, for the first time, energy integration between South America and Central America.
