Disaster Response: Cash assistance provided to farmers in Yangon Region

The National Disaster Management Fund (NDMF) provided cash assistance to farmers in Taikkyi, Hmawbi, Htantapin, Mingaladon, Thanlyin and Hlegu townships.

This provision aims to assist in the replanting of crops damaged by floods before Typhoon Yagi. A ceremony to distribute the cash assistance was held at designated venues within these townships on March 27 and 28. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein attended the ceremonies and delivered speeches.

He also heard reports on the provision of cash assistance. At the ceremonies, cash assistance was provided to 8,293 farmers for 33,283 acres of farmland in Taikkyi Township, 616 farmers for 1,578 acres in Hmawbi and Htantapin, 26 farmers for 100 acres in Mingaladon Township, 11 farmers for 80 acres in Thanlyin and 72 farmers for 402 acres in Hlegu Township.

The Chief Minister also warmly greeted the local farmers in each township while offering words of encouragement.
