







To mark the 54th Anniversary of Independence and National Day of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Embassy in Myanmar organized a commemorative event in Yangon on March 26th.
The ceremony commenced with playing the national anthems of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, followed by the opening remark of Bangladeshi Ambassador to Myanmar Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain.
Then, the Bangladeshi Ambassador and spouse, Union Minister for the Ministry of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office (2) U Ko Ko Hlaing and spouse cut the commemorative cake.
On 26th March 1971, Bangladesh came into existence, and after struggling for the independence for the next ten months, the country gained victory on 16th December the same year.
Bangladesh Embassy, Ambassador, Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, said "This is very important day in our national lives. The people from all walks of life are celebrating this day with lot of emotions and joy. Throughout Bangladesh, people are very jubilant for celebrating this day at their homes and outside all over Bangladesh."
The Bangladeshi Ambassador also extended his wish for 80th Anniversary of Myanmar Armed Forces Day which falls on March 27th.
Bangladesh Embassy, Ambassador, Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, said " I understand tomorrow is Myanmar Armed Forces Day. On this auspicious day, I extend my greeting to all the members of the Armed Forces of Myanmar and to the government of Myanmar.”
As Bangladesh and Myanmar are close neighbour and strengthening ties for years, the two countries are working together in the areas of trade, connectivity and people to people exchanges as well as looking forward to further improvement in bilateral relationship.
