







The second coordination meeting of Organizing Committee for Holding Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan Festival was held at the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday for the successfully organizing the walking festival during the 2025 traditional Myanmar Thingyan festival period.
First, the Chairman of Organizing Committee, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, stated that this year is the third time that Naypyidaw Walking Thingyan Festival has been including during the traditional Myanmar Thingyan festival. He also mentioned that this year’s celebration is particularly significant as it will be the first time the festival is held since being recognized as part of the UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage List of Humanity.
He emphasized that this year’s event will be a grand celebration, which will include international guests, ambassadors, artists, and K-pop singers from South Korea. The aim is to showcase Myanmar’s traditional culture, and he called for coordination to ensure that all staff and the public could joyfully participate in this grand event.
Then, the Vice Chairman of the organizing committee, Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin, mentioned that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture will collaborate in Zone 1 of Naypyidaw’s Thingyan celebrations, which will include both the traditional Myanmar Thingyan and the Thanaka Thingyan.
He also noted that the Department of Fine Arts, as the leading agency, will be involved in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Naypyidaw Mayor Maha Thingyan Festival, as well as in the entertainment programs. Additionally, they will contribute to the Walking Thingyan in Naypyidaw. Subsequently, the Vice Chairman, Union Minister Khun Thant Zaw Htoo, spoke about maintaining discipline and ensuring security and smooth organization of the Walking Thingyan in Naypyidaw, urging everyone to work together for its success.
The meeting continued with the organizing committee’s Secretary, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint, providing an update on the implementation of decisions of previous meeting and the plans moving forward. Then, the project director from Brilliant Aura Co., Ltd. presented the arrangements made for the successful execution of the Naypyidaw Walking Thingyan celebration.
After that, attendees discussed and exchanged ideas on how to ensure that both staff and the public can joyfully participate in the event, leading to concluding remarks and discussions by the Union Minister.
