Expelled S.Africa envoy to US says back home 'with no regrets'

South Africa's former ambassador to the United States, returned to Cape Town following his expulsion by the U.S. Government. Rasool, a former anti-apartheid activist and member of the African National Congress, was declared "persona non grata" by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio after making critical remarks about President Donald Trump. 

The expulsion has strained diplomatic relations between the two countries. South Africa expressed regret over the decision but reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining beneficial relations with the U.S.
