Graduation Dinner: 58th, 59th and 60th Graduations of the UM-1 (Yangon)

On 22nd March, the 58th, 59th and 60th Graduation Ceremonies of the University of Medicine 1 Yangon were held at the Yangon University Convocation Hall and the Graduation Dinner reception was held at the lawn of University of Medicine 1 Yangon.

In his congratulatory speech at the dinner reception, Union Minister for Health Prof: Dr. Thet Khaing Win expressed his appreciations for the strenuous efforts of the graduates through their gruelling journey to achieve respective degrees.

The Union Minister encouraged the graduates to make concerted efforts to strengthen nation’s healthcare sector, to enhance healthcare provision standard and to provide healthcare services in remote areas professionally, conveying empathy.

He also urged the graduates to continue their study by joining short/long-term postgraduate and doctoral courses and attending conferences and workshops from home and abroad to become professionals who can keep abreast with the international standards. Elaborating the medical ethics, the Union Minister encouraged the graduates to become reliable healthcare professionals who can shoulder nation’s responsibilities.

Next, the Rector of the University of Medicine 1 Yangon presented honorary gifts and expressed words of appreciation. The event featured award presentation to the outstanding graduates and stage performances of the graduates.

Established in 1907, the University of Medicine 1 Yangon has successfully turned out a total of 18,144 graduates, including 664 Doctor of Medicine Degree holders, 130 Doctorate Degree holders, 4,275 Master of Medical Science Degree holders and 1,824 diploma holders.
