





The coordination meeting for organizing Myanmar Traditional Culture Maha Thingyan Festival, to be held in Taunggyi, took place in the meeting hall of the Shan State Government Office, Taunggyi, Shan State on March 18.
During the coordination meeting, Shan State Chief Minister and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Myanmar Traditional Culture Maha Thingyan Festival in Taunggyi, U Aung Aung delivered the opening remarks. He stated that the Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival would be held vibrantly and grandly while preserving traditions. He also mentioned that the Walking Thingyan and Thingyan Festival on Inle Lake Water would be conducted with great festivity. Additionally, he instructed the relevant committees to prepare in advance to ensure there would be no water shortages during Thingyan festival period.
Following this, representatives from the relevant working committees attending the coordination meeting discussed and presented the preparations and actions taken by their respective committees.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister as well as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee added in his discussion that the Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Therefore, it must be carried out without deviating from the tradition. The attending state ministers and committee members then engaged in general discussions and presentations, after which the Chief Minister delivered the concluding remarks.
After the meeting, the Chief Minister, state ministers, and responsible officials visited the proposed site for constructing the central pavilion and the locations where the Walking Thingyan would take place. They inspected the areas and provided necessary guidance and instructions, it’s reported.
