Trump calls critical US media outlets 'illegal'

President Donald Trump said in a speech at the Department of Justice that US media outlets which cover him critically are "illegal."

And what do you do to get rid of it? You convict Trump. All you have to do is be really tough on him and ultimately convict him, and they leave you alone. It's totally illegal what they do."

Since starting his second term in January, Trump has moved quickly to pressure mainstream media while boosting access to the White House for formerly fringe right-wing outlets.
