




Nawin Creek crossing Bridge was commissioned into service on Saturday. Situated on Yangon-Mandalay Union Highway, the bridge was upgraded into four-lane facility from its previous two-lane way.
Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant attended the opening ceremony, and took part in the ceremonial ribbon cutting event, together with the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair, Deputy Minister and officials. After unveiling the stone inscription of the newly upgraded bridge, the Union Minister and party strolled along the bridge.
The Bridge Construction Special Group (6) of the ministry has undertaken the upgrading works of this 190 ft facility. During the floods caused by Typhoon Yagi in September 2024, the approached structures of the bridge were damaged, and a temporary bailey bridge was built for providing uninterrupted transportation.
In order to prevent from erosion and ensure long term sustainability, the upgrades and repair works have been conducted for propoer drainages, along with the construction of retaining walls and conduits. Plans are also underway to upgrade the Yangon-Mandalay Union Highway into six-lane way from the four-lane facility.
At present, the road area are being extended while planting trees along the both sides of the road for greening environ.
