Prevention Measures: Efforts to mitigate inundation in Kachin State

Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan accompanied by concerned officials made inspection at the Retaining Wall Construction Site to prevent inundation in villages within Wine Maw Township due to the surge of Ayeyawaddy River.

At the briefing Hall, the Chief Minister heard reports on geo bags installation and 3,000 ft long retaining wall construction with the 2024-2025 State General Surplus Fund to prevent erosion at La Wun Ka Htaung and Hoe Law Villages and coordinated necessities for timely completion of construction process meeting set standards before rainy season.

The Chief Minster and officials inspected the damaged areas, geo bags installation and completion of toe wall and mid wall construction.  A total of 18 households and a pagoda from La Wun Ka Htaung and Hoe Law villages were damaged due to the record breaking surge of Ayeyawady River in 2024.
