Flood Prevention Measures: Plans underway to mitigate inundation in Myitkyina

Plans are underway to mitigate inundation in Myitkyina due to the surge of Ayeyawady River. Feasibility studies were conducted for construction of retaining wall and earthen dam in Lae Kone , Kyet Paung Chan, Yay Kyi and Pammati Wards.

On 13th March, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan visited the project area to oversee the work implementations which is set to be carried our along the river bank which covers over 23,000 ft area. In addition to the construction of retaining wall, the sluice gates will be built at three water outlow areas.
