The Kachin State Government is working to enhance agricultural and livestock breeding activities within the state to ensure food security. To achieve this, efforts are being made to provide financial support and encouragement to local farmers. As part of these efforts, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan conducted a field inspection at a local poultry breeding business in Myitkyina Township on March 11. During the field inspection, the Chief Minister, accompanied by state government ministers and relevant departmental officials, visited the farm of breeder U Peter Maran Gondaung Zaw , located in the Kyarapatty Ward of Myitkyina Township.

They inspected the conditions of over 2,000 indigenous chicks being raised on the farm, the systematic breeding of more than 700 high-quality, purebred local chickens across five poultry sheds, and the operations involving modern machinery used for hatching eggs. The Chief Minister and party toured and examined these activities in detail. Following the inspection, the Chief Minister held a coordination meeting at the Malika Hall of the State Government Office to ensure that the projects and activities funded by the 2024-2025 fiscal year state budget (capital fund) are completed 100% by the end of the fiscal year.

The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant departments and organizations involved in the state budget. Additionally, in the afternoon of March 10, the Chief Minister also chaired a coordination meeting at the same venue to prepare for the 2025 Kachin State Myanmar Traditional Cultural Maha Thingyan Festival. The meeting included state government members and officials from relevant departments at the state level.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that the upcoming Maha Thingyan Festival should be organized systematically, in line with traditional customs and practices, just as in previous years. He stressed the need to ensure a peaceful, joyful, and vibrant celebration, building on the strengths and addressing the weaknesses of past events.

He urged the team to meticulously plan and execute the festival, along with the Myanmar New Year’s Day ceremonies, to make them more lively and successful. Subsequently, state government ministers, along with officials from the steering committee and various subcommittees responsible for the successful organization of the Maha Thingyan Festival, presented their respective plans and preparations for different sectors.

They outlined the measures they intend to implement in advance. Based on the discussions, the Chief Minister instructed that preparations should be completed on time to enable the public to participate freely and joyfully. He directed the relevant subcommittee officials to coordinate and address any additional needs, ensuring all arrangements are adequately fulfilled.
