The ceremony commemorating World Consumer Rights Day, which falls on March 15, 2025, was held at Office No. 3, the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw on March 10.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Myanmar Consumer Protection Commission, Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn, Deputy Ministers from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce, members of the Myanmar Consumer Protection Commission, senior officials from relevant departments, and invited guests.

First, the Union Minister, Deputy Ministers, and the Director-General of the Consumer Affairs Department cut the ribbon to officially open the World Consumer Rights Day commemorative ceremony. In his opening remarks, the Union Minister stated that Myanmar, as a member of the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCP), is actively implementing the ASEAN Strategic Action Plan for Consumer Protection (2016-2025) in collaboration with other ASEAN member states. He highlighted ongoing efforts to raise consumer awareness, monitor markets, and inspect product labels to ensure consumer safety. Under the theme "A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles," he urged staff to work with relevant departments, private organizations, social groups, business owners, and consumers to provide better protection, healthier choices, and a better environment for consumers to ensure sustainable living.

Following this, the Director-General of the Consumer Affairs Department explained the purpose of celebrating World Consumer Rights Day. The event featured a consumer protection awareness video, a tribute song performance, and a market monitoring demonstration. Awards were also presented to winners of the World Consumer Rights Day commemorative essay and cartoon competitions.
