China has announced plans to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data in elderly and social care, aiming to harness new technologies to boost economic growth amid an ageing population. The initiative, revealed during the annual "Two Sessions" political meeting in Beijing, focuses on enhancing services in social assistance, elderly care and support for the disabled by incorporating AI and big data.

The government also plans to reform civil affairs, making services more accessible, standardized, and available online or via mobile apps. Additionally, the focus will be on developing high-skilled and digital talents to support the nation’s modern industrial system and drive future growth, with AI expected to have a profound impact on job structures and creation.
