








A ceremony to honor the Myanmar Women’s National Football Team, which won the championship at the International Women’s Championship 2025, a four-nation women’s football invitational tournament held in Nepal from February 17 to 26, was held at the Novotel Yangon Max Hotel in the evening on March 9.
The event was attended by Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, along with region government ministers, Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) President U Zaw Zaw, vice-presidents, executive members, club owners, donors, and invited guests. During the ceremony, attendees watched a video documentary of the Myanmar Women’s National Team’s journey throughout the tournament.
Following the screening, Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung delivered a speech in honor of the team. Subsequently, the cash donation ceremony to honor the victorious Myanmar Women’s National Football Team was continued.
The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs contributed 300 million kyats, while the Yangon Region Government donated 700 million kyats. Additional contributions came from the bankers and businesspersons. The Union Minister and the Regional Chief Minister accepted these donations on behalf of the team.
In total, 573 million kyats in cash awards was presented to the team’s management, coaches, and players. As part of the program, forwards Win Theingi Tun and May Htet Lu, representing the Myanmar Women’s National Team, expressed words of thanks.
The event concluded with a group photo session with the attendees. The Myanmar Women’s National Team competed against Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, and Lebanon in a round-robin format during the tournament. In the group stage, they defeated Lebanon 3-1 and Kyrgyzstan 5-0, while drawing 2-2 with the host nation, Nepal. Finishing first in their group, they advanced to the final, where they beat Nepal 2-0 to claim the championship title in a well-deserved victory.
