Health Sector Development: MOH Union Minister visits health facilities in Yangon

Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win visited Myaungdagar Station Hospital in Hmawby Township on 7th March to oversee the health care services.

During the visit, the Union Minister inspected the patient wards, laboratory, X-ray room and medicine store. He also comforted the patients and provided cash rewards for the staff. He then visited Myaungdagar Rural Health Department and oversaw the health care services being provided to the patients.

Upon arrival at Insein People’s Hospital, the Union Minister and party toured the compound to view the renovation of Sir Po Tha Ward and the learning condition of medical students. He also met with the Medical Superintendent, Professors and Specialists and urged all to strive for development of health sector, providing better treatment to the patients. He then inspected the hospital dispensary, emergency patient department, laboratory, blood bank, X-ray Room, patient ward and operation theatre.

The Sir Po Tha Ward in the hospital was built in 1928, with the donation of Sir Po Tha and Lady Tha, and this historic building is now under the renovation process with the alloted budget of the state. Since the building is listed as ancient heritage, the renovation works is being carried out in line with the Protection and Preservation of Ancient Monuments Law and its bylaws.
