MSME Development: Efforts for advancement of bladesmithing

For more production of scissors and knives locally, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Work Committee held a work coordination meeting at the Ministry of Industry on March 6.

Under the guidance of the Head of State, the meeting was held by inviting professionals in bladesmithing and those who are selling scissors and knives and operating bladesmith businesses in regions and states. Speaking at the occasion, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than in his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Committee stated that as bladesmithing plays a pivotal role through the history, it has been flourished since Tagaung Era, and nowadays, Magway and Mandalay Regions, and Inlay area in Shan State are famous in production of traditional scissors and knives along with the selling of Agricultural equipment and carpenter tools.

The Union Minister called for collaboration of concerned departments and bladesmith masters for advance production of MSME products to be in par with the changing trend of age. Attendees are urged to actively participate in the discussion with different ideas for production of qualified scissors and knives locally along with the market penetration.

Then, the officials from Magway Region MSME Agency reported on work undertakings and future plans. Deputy Minister for Industry U Yin Maung Nyunt coordinated the requirements and gave closing speech. Later, the attendees toured around the display of scissors and knives.
