Diplomatic Relations: New Consulate General Office opened in St. Petersburg

Myanmar Consulate General Office opened in St. Petersburg of Russian Federation on 5th March. The opening ceremony was attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who is on a State Visit to Russia.

The ceremony commenced with playing of the National Anthems of the two countries. This was followed by ceremonial ribbon cutting for inauguration of the Consulate General Office. Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe gave an opening speech, saying that two new Consulate General Offices were opened in St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk in order to accelerate the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

He expressed his belief on fostering the interest of the two nations through the opening of the new Consulate General Office in St. Petersburge, the city with historic significance along with the advancement in politics, economy, modern science and technologies.

Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov also extended greetings, expressing that the new office will serve a bridge between the two countries, bringing benefits to the friendly relations. After the ceremony, commemorative gifts were presented to the Prime Minister and the Governor of St. Petersburg.
