A freight train carrying locally produced porcelain products departed from Yining County in Northwest China on Friday, marking the launch of a new international freight train route linking Xinjiang with Kazakhstan in central Asia.
The train takes about five hours to reach Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city. The operation of the new freight train route will not only shorten transport time between Yili Prefecture and Central Asia and reduce logistics costs, but also provide more convenient channels for local companies to expand into Central Asian markets. The new route is expected to transport 27,000 tons of goods annually and boost trade volume by about 173.3 million U.S. dollars.
