Paying Homage: Gold Foil Offering at Shwedagon Pagoda

On 1st March, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin visited the the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon and offered flowers, water and light at the Maha Bodhi tree on southern platform of the pagoda.

The Union Minister then inspected the resilience of the pagoda including the preparations for offering of gold foils in full circumference, resilience of the diamond bud, ornamental vane and gold plates and the condition of lightning conducter.

A total of 1,200 gold plates are necessary to complete the full circumference gold foil offering process. As of 1st March, a total of 1,108 gold plates have already been installed and the full circumference gold foils offering process is set to be completed during March.
