EV Charging Station: New facility opened in Nay Pyi Taw

A new EV Charging Station constructed with the allowance of the National-level Leading Committee on Development of Electric Vehicles and Related Businesses was completed near Thu Kha Tawin Housing, Zabuthiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw.

On February 28th, the Committee Secretary and Deputy Minister for Industry U Yin Maung Nyunt along with the concerned officials attended the opening ceremony of the station.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Minister stated that the global countries are emphasizing for production of EVs as part of substitution in the place of diesel vehicles to reduce the deterioration of natural environment.

Due to rapid rising of diesel and gasoline prices globally, the utilization of EVs has been increased day by day. To reduce greenhouse gas which harm the natural environment, the Deputy Minister called for widely use of EVs in public transportation, which could benefit the country along with the decrease in fuel import. Following this, the new charging station was opened by cutting ceremonial ribbons and the Deputy Minister and concerned officials unveiled the signboard of the facility.

Then, the Deputy Minister and party inspected the the newly opened charging station and its working processes, instructing on implementation of fire safety measure and conducting knowledge sharing session for the staff to acknowledge how to handle emergency situations. A total of 42 Charging Stations have been planned to construct as a pilot project in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay and Yangon under the guidance of the Leading Committee.

The newly opened facility is the 4th charging station in Nay Pyi Taw and the 21st one in the whole country. For widely utilization of EVs across the country, preparatory survey were carried out on the major national highways to construct Charging Stations for smooth transportation access of the public.

Currently, the Leading Committee is scrutinizing the reports of the private businessmen who want to construct Charging Stations on their own land along the highway or major cities.
