Crackdown on Online Frauds: Efforts for eliminating online scams

The government is making strenuous efforts to eliminate online fraud, online gambling and unlawful acts with the collaboration of the international organizations.

On 28th February, a total of 200 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar and engaged in online fraud and online gambling at Myawaddy-Shwe Kokko, Me Htaw Thalay and KK Park area were detained. The necessary records and personal information are compiled to deport them to their respective countries.

From 30th January to 28th February 2025, a total of 3,125 illegal foreign nationals have been detained. Among them, 757 detainees are already deported to their respective countries via Thailand in line with the laws and procedures. Most of the detainees are Chinese citizens and some of them are from Indonesia, Viet Nam, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nepal, Thailand, Rwanda, Kenya, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Ghana and China (Taipei).
