


A training on knowledge sharing of Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women- CEDAW, National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women – NSPAW, ASEAN Gender Mainstreaming Strategic Framework- AGMSF) (2021-2025) and United Nations Security Council Resolution UNSCR 1325 took place at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on February 26.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Dr. Soe Win stated that the Department of Social Welfare is striving to provide social welfare services to needy children, women, elders and persons with disabilities, assisting their socio-economic development.
The Union Minister added that the training was conducted to acknowledge the country’s participation in the working processes relating to gender equality and women rights.
In order to implement working processes on Beijing Declaration, adopted during the Beijing Conference in 1995, the Myanmar National Committee on Women was established as a leading entity for development and protection of women.
In addition, the Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women was drafted to meet the Sustainability Development Goals. The trainees are urged to activitly participate in the discussions and apply the knowledge what they gain during the trainings at their respective work places. A total of 30 trainees from the ministries attended the training which will run till February 27th.
