









The opening ceremony of the 21st annual meeting of Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation was held at the Thiri-Yadana Hall of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation office in Nay Pyi Taw on February 26.
The event was attended and graced by Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister, who is also the Honorary Patron of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation.
First, the Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, Chairperson of the Myanmar National Committee for Women’s Affairs, delivered an opening speech.
In his address, the Union Minister stated that the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation has been diligently working not only on matters concerning the education and health of Myanmar women, reducing violence against women, providing support during natural disasters and emergencies, enhancing women’s capacities, environmental conservation, and improving the livelihoods and development of women, but also actively engaging in international and regional women’s affairs.
He further encouraged all participants to actively discuss and achieve positive outcomes at the 21st annual meeting of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation. Following this, a video documentary showcasing the activities carried out by the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation was screened.
Subsequently, the Honorary Patron of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, presented awards for outstanding performance and coverage in women’s development initiatives.
The first prize was awarded to the Yangon Region, the second prize to the Bago Region, the third prize to Shan State, and a special award to Kachin State, with the respective chairpersons of the women’s affairs committees receiving the honors.
The ceremony continued with Daw Khin Thet Htay, Honorary Patron of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation, Union Minister Dr. Soe Win, federation patrons, and the chairperson presenting awards to recipients from various categories, including the best performance awards (first, second, third, honorary, and special awards) and the best coverage awards (first, second, third, and special awards), as well as support contribution awards. These were given to the Secretary of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation, the Nay Pyi Taw Council, and chairpersons of women’s affairs committees from various regions and states.
After that, the honorary patron Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, along with the attendees, posed for a group photo and toured an exhibition of photographs documenting the activities of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation.
The 21st annual meeting of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation then proceeded, beginning with an address by Dr. Thet Thet Zin, Chairperson of the federation.
The chairperson and the first Vice-Chairperson presided over the meeting, while representatives from the Nay Pyi Taw Council, Regions and States women’s affairs committees presented their work reports. The presided persons reviewed and discussed the presentations. The annual meeting will continue for two days, concluding on February 27, it’s learnt.
