Opening of new school building: Kachin State CM attended the ceremony

Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, along with responsible officials, attended the opening ceremony of a new school building at Yar-Pyae Private High School in Myitkyina Township’s Rampu Ward on 25th February.

Initially, the Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, State Government Minister for Social Affairs U Moe Min Thein, State Education Officer U Soe Thaik, and the founder of Yar-Pyae Private High School U Zeyya jointly cut the ribbon to open the new six-story RCC school building. They then sprinkled scented water on the new school building’s signboard together with other officials. The Chief Minister also presented a donation of 1 million kyats to the private high school.

Following this, the Chief Minister, along with the State Chief Justice, state government ministers, state-level departmental officials, and members of the school’s administrative committee, toured and observed with interest the educational competency exhibitions set up inside the new school building for primary, middle, and high school levels, offering their encouragement.

Subsequently, the Chief Minister and officials attended a ceremony at the Samaduwasinwa Naw Hall within the State Government Office compound to honor the organizing committee and editorial team of the 77th Kachin State Day anniversary magazine. During the event, the Chief Minister delivered a congratulatory speech.

Thereafter, the Chief Minister awarded cash prizes and honorary gifts to the magazine organizing committee and editorial team members. Additionally, two writers from the editorial team received extra financial support for healthcare expenses. The Editor-in-Chief, senior writer Ah-Kyee Ko Ko (Katha), expressed gratitude in a return speech.

In the afternoon on 24th Feburary, the Chief Minister also chaired a coordination meeting at the Malika Hall of the State Government Office to prepare for the 2025 Regions and States sports competitions. The meeting focused on pre-training camps and arrangements to ensure successful participation and achievements in various sports, involving responsible officials from the respective sports subcommittees.

During the coordination meeting, the Chief Minister gave an opening speech, followed by presentations from the State Social Affairs Minister, the State Director of the Sports and Physical Education Department, and officials from the subcommittees on their respective sectors. The Chief Minister provided additional guidance and support based on the discussions.

After that, the Chief Minister awarded 8.6 million kyats to officials, coaches, and representatives from the Sports and Physical Education Department and various subcommittees.

Similarly, in the evening, the Chief Minister visited the designated area within the Pa La Na (5) Thazin Myaing village group in Myitkyina Township, where households displaced from various locations due to violent incidents in the state have settled. He met with the families warmly and delivered an encouraging speech.

Subsequently, the camp in-charge and families discussed plans and needs related to constructing homes in the resettlement area.

The Chief Minister coordinated with relevant departmental officials to address these requirements, providing 5 million kyats and vegetable seeds to the households. He also inspected the progress of land-clearing efforts, working with officials to address additional needs and ensure proper arrangements.
