Telecom Fraud: Over 200 detained Chinese citizens deported

The government is making exerted efforts to eliminate telecom fraud and unlawful acts which have been on the rise in border areas and to extradite the detained illegal foreign nationals who engaged in the unlawful cases with the collaboration of neighbouring countries and international organizations.

On 20th February, a total of 200 detained Chinese citizens who engaged in online fraud, online gambling and unlawful acts at Myawaddy-Shwe Kokko and KK Park area were extradited to China through Thailand in line with the existing rules and regulations.

According to the confession of the detained Chinese citizens, most of them traveled to Bangkok from China first and entered Mae Sot Township. Then, they were sent to Myawaddy-KK Park area to do online fraud and online gambling against their will.

As some of terrorist groups are residing in Shwe Kokko area, online gambling and unlawful acts are committed within the area exploiting on current border situations. It is reported that the necessary information and investments to operate online fraud and gambling businesses were received by foreign organizations.

At present, the government is intensifying efforts to take action against the foreign nationals who are engaging in online scam center activities and taking control on unlawful acts as well as to extradite the trafficked foreign nationals to their respective countries promptly.
