Agriculture and Livestock Development: Commission meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw

Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Development Commission held its meeting at the hall of the Yazin Agricultural Researach Department on 20th February with the attendence of Commission Chairman General Nyo Saw. Speaking at the meeting, the General stated that as prosperity of the state and food sufficiency is fundamental for all citizens, collaborative efforts in all sectors are needed for successful implementation of the tasks.

He added that for the increase of country’s GDP, it is needed to strive for development of agriculture sector which proceeds 23.3 percent of country’s GDP. He also called for smooth procedures in approving domestic and international investments in agriculture and livestock breeding industries for smooth operation of businesses.

Concerned departmental officials are urged to carry out monitoring tasks for producing qualified marine products to compete in the international markets.  This was followed by clarification on instructions, decisions made in previous meeting, and sector wise discussion by the attendees.

Prior to the meeting, General Nyo Saw conducted field inspection at the triple cropping model plot and research plots of the Department of Agricultural Research. At the briefing hall, the General heard the current and future working processes and instructed to carry out technology dissemination activities and increase yielding of crops in collaboration with experts and private organization. 

Next, the General inspected farmer studio that share agricultural technology to educate farmers and display of sample seed and seed bank of the Department of Agricultural Research.
