Central committee meeting: Committee Chairman MoI UM gave a speech

The Chairman of the Central Committee for the Prevention of Hazards from Chemical and Related Substances, Union Minister for Industry, Dr. Charlie Than, attended and delivered a speech at the Central Committee meeting 1/2025 held on Tuesday at the meeting hall of Office No. (30), Ministry of Industry in Nay Pyi Taw.

First, the Chairman of the Central Committee, Union Minister for Industry, stated that in this meeting, the Central Committee would seek approval to issue the "Order Amending and Supplementing the Duties of the Supervisory Committees for the Prevention of Hazards from Chemical and Related Substances in Nay Pyi Taw, Regions and States," the Directive on the Transport of Chemical and Related Substances," and the "Directive on Safety Regulations for Lead Smelting Operations."

He urged attendees to actively discuss and provide suggestions on the directives and orders to be issued by the Central Supervisory Committee to effectively manage chemical-related operations in line with the main objectives of the law on preventing hazards from chemical and related substances. He also encouraged everyone to collaborate and contribute their ideas on any other matters they wished to discuss.

Following this, the Secretary of the Central Committee presented updates on the activities of the Central Committee and the Central Supervisory Committee, the decisions to be made by the Central Committee, and the progress in implementing laws and regulations.

Subsequently, the Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi, U Nyan Tun, U Chit Swe, U Tun Ohn, discussed relevant matters.

Deputy Ministers, the Chairman of the Yangon City Development Committee, Directors-General, and representatives from UMFCCI also participated in the discussions, contributing to the decision-making process. The Union Minister for Industry delivered concluding remarks.

After the coordination meeting, it was reported that the Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Directors-General, and responsible officials visited the bicycle factory (Kyaukse) leased by Win & Win Co., Ltd. under the Ministry of Industry. They inspected hospital beds produced using the SKD system, which are intended for use in specialized intensive care units.
