AI Strategy and Policy: Meeting on drafting NAS and NAP (draft)

Union Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, attended and delivered the opening remarks at the fourth coordination meeting (1/2025) for the drafting of the National AI Strategy and National AI Policy (Draft), held via a hybrid system at the Meeting Hall No. 21 of the Ministry of Science and Technology on Tuesday.

In his speech, the Union Minister stated that as Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology rapidly advances globally, impacting economies and societies, Myanmar must also effectively integrate AI into its national development sectors.

He emphasized the need to establish ethical guidelines, standards, and regulations for citizens to follow, to raise awareness about AI, and to systematically develop skilled human resources in AI technology within the region while fostering international collaboration.

He highlighted that the drafting of a National AI Policy aims to achieve these goals and stressed the importance of working closely with AI experts and professionals. Following this, representatives from the National AI Strategy & National AI Policy Drafting Committee presented updates on the progress made in their respective sectors.

Attendees, including officials from relevant ministries and experts from organizations, participated in discussions and provided recommendations.
