Italian President Mattarella to visit Japan in March

The Japanese government has decided to invite Italian President Sergio Mattarella to make an official visit from March 3 to 7. During the visit, Mattarella is expected to meet with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, and hold talks with Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru. This will be President Mattarella's first visit to Japan. 

Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi Yoshimasa told reporters after the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday that Japan and Italy have established close ties in all areas. He said he hopes the president's visit will further deepen the friendly and cooperative relationship.
