Detainees of foreign nationals: Further 273 foreign nationals detained on Feb. 17

The government of Myanmar is actively working to combat illegal online gambling, online fraud, and other criminal activities occurring in the border regions.

On 17th February, a further 273 foreign nationals who had entered Myanmar through illegal routes in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas were identified and detained. To facilitate the swift repatriation of these foreign nationals to their respective countries, representatives from Myanmar, China, and Thailand met in Myawadyfor discussions and coordination.

The relevant agencies are continuing their work to collect necessary personal information and records. From January 30, 2025, to February 17, a total of 1,303 foreign nationals who had entered Myanmar illegally were identified and detained.
