Tour in Kawthaung: Implementation of Eco-Tourism and pearl production

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Envronmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi made a field trip to Kawthaung of Tanintharyi region on 15th February.

During the tour, the Union Minister inspected the implementation of eco-tourism while safeguarding the natural environment in WarAle`   Island. The Union Minister then proceeded to Makyonekalet Salon Village in Lanpi Island. In meeting met with local salon ethnic, the Union Minister stated that Lanpi island and its environ play crucial role in implementing eco-tourism, and instructed to preserve for long-term durability of their environment and forests, realizing its value.

During the meeting, rice, oil and teaching aids were provided for the local salon people and students, and also cash assistance to establish the village library. In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited the Oriental Pearl Company in Jalan Island and Myanmar Andamen Pearl Company Ltd in St. Luk  Island and inspected the process of oyster breeding. Officials presented the production status and the Union Minister instructed to emphasize on the production process  and pearl quality.
