






A Coordination Meeting of the National Renewable Energy Committee (NREC) was held at Ministry of Electric Power in Nay Pyi Taw on February 13.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the NREC, Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun; Vice-Chairman (1) Union Minister U Min Naung, Vice-Chairman (2) Union Minister Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw; Union Ministers U Hla Moe, Dr. Nyunt Pe, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, Deputy Ministers from relevant ministries; Yangon City Mayor, responsible officials and members of NREC.
In his opening remarks, NREC Chairman Union Minister U Nyan Tun stated that the country's electricity and energy demands require prioritizing renewable energy, which is environmentally friendly and has minimal social impact.
He emphasized that the formation of NREC, which encompasses multiple sectors, aims to foster balanced collaboration between government departments, organizations, and the private sector. He noted that the Chairman of the State Administration Council has directed the prioritization of hydropower and renewable energy in electricity generation.
The NREC's efforts contribute to increasing renewable energy production and advancing green growth, green energy, and a green economy. He urged relevant departments to expedite the implementation of solar projects by the departments at the relevant regions and expressed confidence that the committee members' discussions would yield positive outcomes for the NREC's future goals.
Following this, the Committee Secretary presented updates on the implementation status of previous meeting resolutions and the activities of the NREC support teams.
Subsequently, the Committee Vice-Chairmen, committee members, and attendees discussed the current progress in the respective sectors, proposed future collaborative measures, and shared recommendations. The meeting concluded with closing remarks by NREC Chairman and Union Minister for Electric Power.
