Mon National Day: Thanintharyi Region CM attends the ceremony

The 78th Anniversary Mon National Day was held at City Hall in Dawei of Tanintharyi Region on Thursday. Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko together with Coastal Area Command Commander Brigadier General Kyaw Kyaw Han and officials cut the ceremonial ribbon and inaugurated the Mon National Day Commemorative Arch.

Mon traditional dance and performance troupes entertained the attendees with Shwe Hintha dance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stated that the regional government is making efforts in preserving the traditions, culture and custom of the ethnic people residing in the region and promoting their literature and arts. He also called for the Mon ethnic people to cooperate with each other in developing their literature, language and culture as well as making efforts to enhance their religion and national interest.

Next, the natural resources minister read out the message sent by the Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs. Khun That Zaw Htoo to the 78th Anniversary Mon National Day. Following this, Chairman of Mon Literature and Cultural Committee expressed words of thanks.

After that, Mon traditional costumes from successive eras were presented and the attendees enjoyed the songs.

Then, the Chief Minister and attendees took a documentary photo together.
