Coordination Meeting: Meeting on agricultural machinery held

A coordination meeting on the production of agricultural machinery was held at the temporary command office near the Uppadasanti Pagoda in Tabaung Ground, where the Union-level MSME Product Exhibition and Competition is currently taking place.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Union-level MSME Product Exhibition and Competition Organizing Committee, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, Union Ministers U Min Naung, U Hla Moe, U Nyan Tun, and U Ko Ko Lwin, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, chairpersons of various sub-committees, region/state government ministers, members of sub-committees, and officials from relevant ministries.

First, the Union Minister for Industry recalled that during the opening ceremony of the Union-level MSME Product Exhibition and Competition, the Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister, while touring the exhibition halls of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Bago Region, Tanintharyi Region, Mandalay Region, Mon State, and Ayeyawady Region, reviewed the agricultural machinery on display.

He provided guidance on the strengths and weaknesses of the machinery and emphasized the need for relevant ministries to collaborate in producing better-quality machinery. Consequently, a technical team will be formed to ensure the quality of agricultural machinery production.

The Union Minister urged attendees to propose suitable individuals for the technical team and define their responsibilities. He also invited agricultural machinery manufacturers to openly exchange technical knowledge, share ideas, and discuss ways to produce improved products.

Next, exhibition representatives from Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, Bago Region, Mandalay Region, Mon State, and Ayeyawady Region explained the current status of agricultural machinery production and practical applications in their respective regions and states. Following this, the Director-General of the Department of Industrial Agriculture presented the progress of agricultural machinery production and the research and development of a six-row hand-pushed rice transplanter.

In response to the presentations, the Union Ministers for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation; Cooperatives and Rural Development; Electric Power; and Energy, as well as the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, discussed issues relevant to their respective sectors.

Subsequently, attendees discussed the challenges faced in producing agricultural machinery, the support needed from state-owned factories and workshops, and the formation of a technical team to upgrade agricultural machinery production. After detailed discussions and decisions, the Union Minister for Industry delivered concluding remarks, and the meeting was concluded.
