Elephant rescued after sinking into tank bund in Sri Lanka

Due to an erosion of the upper tank bund of Ihalagama in Sri Lanka it has been temporarily renovated recently. 

 A jumbo who crossed the repaired portion of the tank bund last night had sunk inside the sand of that portion of the tank bund.

Steps had been taken to retrieve the elephant from the spot and treat it by veterinary surgeon Chandana Jayasinghe and his group of officials attached to the wild life office in Anuradhapura when the residents informed them about the incident. The officials of Kahatagasdigiliya, North Central Province of Sri Lanka. Wild life office and the wild life protection office of Anuradhapura have assisted in this endeavor.
