Project Achievement Ceremony: Distribution Pipeline Network in Hilly Region

Initiated by Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund 2023, Gravity Flow System with Treatment Plant and Distribution Pipeline Network in Hilly Region Project Achievement Ceremony was held in Kone Chan Village of Nyaung Shwe Township on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia and concerned officials. The ceremony commenced with a screening of documentary video on the project.

Then, the Union Minister delivered a speech, highlighting the efforts of the Ministry to ensure safe drinking water supply for all rural people by 2030 by drafting master plan. He also expressed his appreciation to all relevant individuals who made strenuous efforts to implement the project successfully. He also urged the local residents to use the project equipment systematically.

The Chinese Ambassador also clarified Myanmar-China collaborative activities, Lancang-Mekong Rural Development and Poverty Reduction projects, other development activities under Lancang-Mekong roject and further tasks to be implemented. After the ceremony, the Union Minister, Shan State Chief Minister, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar and officials made a tour of water supply project and water meters system within the village.

As of 2025, a total of 45,139 safe drinking water projects were implemented in more than 33,000 villages. The Gravity Flow System with Treatment Plant and Distribution Pipeline Network in Hilly Region Project was implemented in 3 villages of Nyaung Shwe, YetSouk and Loilin townships. From now on, a total of 1,627 population form the villages will receive sufficient safe water supply to expand their agriculture and livestock breeding businesses.
