Opening of Sports Competition: MGY CM gave an opening speech

In honoring 78th Anniversary of Union Day, the opening ceremony of the student sports competition at Magway Education Degree College was held at the college's sports hall on Tuesday evening.

The event was attended by Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin, who delivered the opening address. In his opening remarks, Chief Minister U Tint Lwin emphasized that the students participating in the sports competition are part of the nation's efforts to compete on an international level.

He highlighted the importance of the education sector, which is being prioritized to ensure comprehensive development. He stated that the progress of a nation is directly linked to the health, strength, and mindset of its citizens.

The government is committed to fostering the continuous emergence of new generations who are healthy, strong, and skilled in various sports, aiming for success in international sports competitions and the overall development of the youth.

Following the speech, the participating athletes took the sports oath, and students performed a Fitness Dance as part of the entertainment. The Chief Minister provided sports equipment and presented cash of honor to the performance groups.

The Chief Minister and officials also watched and cheered on the participants in the men Sepak Takraw competition. For the 2024-2025 academic year, at Magway Education Degree College, it is reported that over 500 students will participate in a track and field competition with 10 different events, categorized by year groups from the first year to the fourth year, from February 4th to February 10th.
