






In Commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of Union Day, the national races dance competition along with the display of cultural booths was held at No. 1 Basic Education High School (Dagon) in Yangon on 4th February. The ceremony was attended by the school principal, teachers, students and parents so also the judges and departmental officials.
Principal,Dr. Sandar Mya Nyein,No. 1 B.E.H.S (Dagon), said " According to 2025-2026 Academic Year Calendar, we’ve many school activities which are necessary for basic education level. The Union Day celebration is one of the activities. The tripartite participation of students, teachers and parents is important with good collaboration and management. The Union Day ceremony also reflects the unity of our school. We select and distribute the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners so also special prizes up to the student’s presentation skills and dance performance. "
The aim of the Union Day ceremony is to awaken and enliven the union spirit among the students and to enable them to cherish and understand more about the beauty and diversity of Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Bamar, Rakhine and Shan national races. Students from Grade-4 to Grade-11 participated in the dance competitions and display booths representing 8 national races. The joyous celebration would assist as the creative teaching to students while enhancing their general knowledge about the Union of Myanmar so also their presentation skills and performing arts.
Lin Htet Thet Paing, Grade-6 Student, said " I would like to explain what makes Chin more unique and the landmarks. Firstly, the rhododendron which is the national flower of the Chin State and is also popular among Chin people. It has a bright red colour and it usually grows on the Chin Hills."
After the ceremony, the school principal and officials distributed cash awards: 500,000 Kyats to the 1st prize winner, 400,000 Kyats to the 2nd winner, 300,000 Kyats to the 3rd as well as 200,000 Kyats each to 5 special award winners.
