Volleyball competition: Taninthayi Region CM attended opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the Men and Women Volleyball competition organized by the Dawei Education Degree College in the commemoration of  78th Union Day was held at the Shwewei-Thiri Stadium in Dawei Township, Taninthayi Region on Tuesday.

Initially, the competing teams took their positions on the court, and the teams gave their salute to the Chief Minister of the region.

During the ceremony, the Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, expressed that the government is supporting and encouraging the development of Myanmar sports through various means to help outstanding athletes emerge in the sports world. He emphasized that promoting sports is a way of enhancing the nation's dignity and strengthening the country's standing. He also stated that success in sports contributes to the pride and reputation of the nation and its people. He expressed continued support for the improvement of Myanmar's sports level in line with national interests.

After that, the teams recited the sportsmanship pledge, and then the women’s teams, Bayint Naung and Bandula, competed against each other, with Bayint Naung team emerging victorious.

The volleyball competition at Dawei Education Degree College, commemorating the 78th Union Day, will continue with five men's teams and five women's teams competing until February 7.
