Meeting with educational officials: MoE Union Minister gave the opening remarks

Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe met with university rectors, principals of teacher education colleges, and education officers from regions and states in the afternoon on Monday at the meeting hall of the Ministry, at Office No. 13 in Naypyidaw.

In his opening remarks, the Union Minister emphasized the need for efforts to open more schools in the coming academic year compared to this year. With the Grade 5 and Grade 9 final exams approaching for the 2024-2025 academic year, he highlighted the importance of ensuring that students can sit for the exams calmly and that the exams are conducted successfully.

He urged teachers to work together to nurture students who are not only academically skilled but also capable of preserving national character and becoming well-rounded, educated individuals.

Following that, Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint discussed topics related to the production of university-specific documentaries, distance learning, and other educational initiatives.

Next, Deputy Minister U Nay Myo Hlaing discussed strategies for teaching students effectively from the basic education level, improving students’ reading speeds, developing school libraries, and enhancing teacher quality through the professional training.

Subsequently, the Directors-General of the Higher Education Department, the Basic Education Department, and the Teacher Training Department provided updates and discussed plans and processes related to higher education, basic education, and teacher training. Finally, the Union Minister gave concluding remarks and the meeting was concluded.
