The opening ceremony of the Legal Knowledge Dissemination Training, organized by the Union Election Commission (UEC), was held on Monday at the UEC Office’s extended building.
UEC Chairman U Ko Ko and members, along with officials and staff, attended the event. During the ceremony, UEC Chairman U Ko Ko delivered an opening speech, stating that the training was being conducted under the guidance of the State Administration Council Chairman.
He emphasized that the training aims to equip civil servants with legal knowledge and awareness, enabling them to fulfill their duties as citizens and public servants accurately and responsibly. The training also seeks to help participants understand the nature of laws, comply with legal provisions, and disseminate the acquired legal knowledge within their respective organizations, families, and communities.
He highlighted that the primary responsibility of the Union Election Commission is to conduct free and fair elections. For this, it is essential that staff at all levels of the UEC and its sub-commission offices understand and adhere to laws, regulations, and procedures. Only then can free and fair elections be ensured.
The Chairman urged participants to share the legal knowledge gained from the training with their colleagues and communities. He also encouraged them to strive to become high-quality, competent, and trustworthy civil servants who are relied upon by the public. The Union Election Commission will conduct the Legal Knowledge Dissemination Training on February 3, and 4, 2025, it’s learnt.
