




Hailing the 78th anniversary Union Day, a new library was opened in Mawlamyine of Mon State on Saturday.
Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein attended the opening ceremony, and took part in the ceremonial ribbon cutting event. He also urged all to wisely use the newly opened library as a treasure trove of knowledge and to strive for long term durability of the facility.
Aiming to provide easy access of books and periodicals to the student youths, along with the nurturing reading habit and broadening the scope of knowledge, new libraries have been opened in Mon State.
The newly opened Lin Yaung Chi Library is a one-storey facility with 20 ft wide and 20 ft long. It was constructed with 15 million kyat contribution by the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee and 3.6 million kyat fund by the Mon State Government and well-wishers. In addition, 400 various kinds of knowledge and aesthetic literature were donated by the Mon State Library Foundation and Nway Htwe Thaw Yin Khwin Self-Reliant Group.
