





Organized by the Ministry of Health and the Shan State Government, the Department of Medical Service has been providing surgical treatments for the patients with cleft lip and cleft palate at the 500-bed-Sao San Tun Hospital in Taunggyi from January 25th to 30th.
On January 27th, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, State Government members, and officials, visited the hospital. They spoke words of encouragement to the children receiving treatment for cleft lips, cleft palates. During the visit, Chief Minister U Aung Aung presented a financial reward in recognition of the surgical treatments being carried out, which was accepted by two responsible officials of Sao San Tun Hospital.
The medical professionals performing surgeries on patients with cleft lips, cleft palates, include professors and specialists from the Department of Medical Service, the Department of Medical Service (Oral Health), Yangon General Hospital, Loilin General Hospital, Mawlamyine General Hospital, Naypyitaw General Hospital, and the specialists from Japan. On January 27th, a total of 16 patients were treated, and surgeries for cleft lip and cleft palate will continue, with the placement of dentures scheduled for January 31st.
