Rural Development: MCRD Union Minister tours in Nay Pyi Taw

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe accompanied by concerned officials made inspection within Pobbathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area for the development of oil crop sector.

In TautHtein Village, AyemyintTharyar Village tract, the Union Minister inspected Yezin 1 species winter sunflower plantation of member of AyechanTharyar Agriculture and production cooperative association.

The Union Minister later met with the members of cooperative association and oil crop growers of the village, heard reports on winter sunflower plantations. Upon reports, the Union Minister instructed on acceleration of peanut and sunflower plantations to reduce import volume of edible oil.

As the ministry is providing necessary oil crop varieties, fertilizers and inputs, loan disbursement and making efforts for market availability, the growers are encouraged to understand the cost and profit per acre as well as the pros and cons of the sunflower varieties for the development of oil crop sector.

The Union Minister also urged the relevant officials to provide direct marketing for the growers and stressed on right varieties choice of oil crop to meet target yield, systematic farmland utilization and growing methods as well as sufficient agricultural water supply. He also stressed on unity and equality among cooperative associations and members.
