
A magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred in Fukushima Prefecture, northeastern Japan on Thursday. Officials say there is no threat of tsunami. An intensity of lower 5 on Japan's seismic scale of zero to 7 was observed in the prefecture's Hinoemata Village.
Tokyo Electric Power Company said it has confirmed no abnormalities at the Fukushima Daiichi and Daini nuclear plants.
The company also said there are no changes in figures at monitoring posts that measure radiation levels around the nuclear power plants. Local police and the fire department said they had received no reports of damage in Hinoemata. The Meteorological Agency estimates that the focus was at a depth from 5.0 and 10 kilometers.
