Maldives-Japan explores renewable energy opportunities

Maldives’ Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, Thoriq Ibrahim met with the Japanese delegation led by Asakura Takekazu in Maldives on Tuesday.

The Maldivian Government has held discussions with a visiting top-level delegation from Japan over enhancing renewable energy and low emission development opportunities in the island nation.

The Japanese delegation expressed its interest in assisting Maldives in achieving its renewable energy and low emission targets. The current Administration has set sights on converting 33 percent of the country’s electricity usage to renewable energy by 2028.
