Capacity Enhancement: Human resource development for energy sector

On 18th January, Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin presided over a meeting with the rectors, pro-rectors from Yangon University, Yangon Technological University and Technological University Thanlyin, department head and professors of Geology Department from Yaynanchaung University, retired senior officials from the Ministry and many other concerned officials at Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (Lower Myanmar Branch).

In his opening speech, the Union Minister said that in 2025, the Ministry will focus on capacity enhancement of the new generation geologists and petroleum engineers with the support on stakeholders in line with the motto “ 2025, the Year of Myanmar Energy.”

He added that plans are underway to offer scholarship program for the outstanding students in respective subjects as well as to open 4-year Diploma Course in Petroleum Geology, starting 2025 academic year at Yaynanchaung University.

The attendees made discussions on necessities and requisite assistance to create better teaching and learning environment at the universities, necessary qualifications in respective workplaces as well as University Industries Partnership implementation.
