Presenting Awards: English Proficiency and Mathematics Skill

Winners of the 2024-2025 Academic Year Basic Education Primary and Middle School Level English Language Proficiency and Mathematics Skill Competitions (Central Level) were awarded at a ceremony on Thursday. Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe attended the ceremony, held at No.6 Basic Education High School in Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, and made a speech.

The Union Minister said in reforming of basic education sector, a new curriculum for KG+12 education programme has been implemented starting 2016-2017 Academic Year in order for the students to catch up with the Soft Skills needed for the 21st Century.

He added that English Language Proficiency and Mathematics Skills play vital role in nurturing educated individuals in the country. He reiterated that the Ministry is striving to fulfill the needs for good characteristics of the schools and to support for physically and mentally well-being of the teachers and students. Students are urged to make constant learning of their lessons to be able to compete in the international competitions related to English Language Proficiency and Mathematics Skills. This was followed by presenting of awards to the winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.

English Language Proficiency and Mathematics Skills competitions for Grade-5 to Grade-9 students have been held annually with the aims to enhance English language proficiency, to develop thinking skills and to improve mathematical intelligence of the students.
