Flourishing of Sasana: Donations for flood affected monasteries

A donation ceremony of cash, Pali Canon and Ashin Gavampati Sutta books to the flood affected monasteries took place at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

The donation items were contributed by MingalaZayone Pali University Monastery Venerable Sayadaw, the Chairman Venerable Sayadaw of Nay Pyi Taw Sangha Nayaka Committee and the Venerable Patron Sayadaw of Thukha Vihaya Thet Yat Kone Monastery and the Yan Aung Myin Taw Ya (Myo Taw Won) Presiding Sayadaw and well-wishers.

The ceremony was opened by reciting Namo Tassa three times, and the congregation received the five precepts and observed the Pritta Sutta. Then, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin explained the purpose of the donation. and supplicated religious matters.

Due to the floods caused by Typhoon Yagi in September 2024, a total of 316 monasteries and nunneries across the Regions and States were affected. During the ceremony, 30 million kyats cash assistance were donated for the flooded affected monasteries in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, along with the donation of offertories, Pali Canon and Ashin GavampatiSutta books by well-wishers.

After the ceremony, the Union Minister curated the Sayadaws around the displays of donated items and also made explanation on the project of installing the Pagoda Digital Directory.
